Been stopping by this Sports Bar for about 10 years. The food has always been good. I typically order the same thing potatoe skins. Reliable, consistent bar food. This visit I noticed a new edition to their menu that being beer cheese. Now as a resident of the locale that invented beer cheese this prompted my curiosity. Beer cheese in a restaurant that is not in Clark Co. Now that is something new. I guess it is also a testament to our hometown staple that it is now bleeding across county lines. Alas there must be some geological or atmospheric phenomena which produces quality beer cheese within the confines of Clark Co. The beer cheese was not really beer cheese. It was just very good nacho cheese and chips. As beer cheese it bore little resemblance to its Winchester cousins. The beer cheese was runny with a slight beer flavor with a hint of possible butter and maybe a spice like possibly paprika. Good cheese dip but not actual "beer cheese". Now you may ask what's up with 4 stars and the all this negative stuff about beer cheese. Well the potatoe skins are really good. The service is always friendly and I do respect their inventive interpretation of beer cheese. Who knows maybe someday this unique version of beer cheese will catch on. As for me I will stick to the skins and quality service. Stop by sometime and have a bite and watch a game. Tonight I am enjoying the Olympics and and a few appetizers. Maybe I will see you there?
Great food and great service! I had the BBQ pulled pork with mashed potatoes and spinach on the side. The pulled pork was amazing! The side dishes were equally delicious. The spinach was fresh spinach (not the cheap chopped/canned kind) and it was drenched in that really good butter that some seafood places give you to dip crab meat in. Miranda was so friendly and attentive! She kept coming back to fill my water and kept me informed about the status of my order. Thanks for a great experience on my trip to Lexington!
First I must say that this place is a pleasant surprise nestled right in the Clarion hotel in Lexington Kentucky. The food and drinks are reasonably priced and well portioned. It's certainly a place to enjoy good times. If you are from out of town like myself do give this place a try. Very friendly and hospitable!! Try their sweet & spicy pecans. The waitress we had during our stay was absolutely fabulous! Never once did we have to ask for refills etc. She was on top of her job!! Whoever the chef is in the back kudos because you know what you are doing! They have a pool table as well as darts in the upper section of the restaurant for those who enjoy the game. Also, a jukebox to play some of your favorite music whilst playing pool or enjoying dinner.
Had tried this place a while back since we live close and the burger was good but the slaw and potato salad was terrible. So was reluctant to give it another shot. Glad we did. The service was timely and very efficient and very receptive to our specific requests. She was fun and had a great attitude. Linlee was very accommodating and friendly with some welcome home southern hospitality (after our trip to AZ).. I read the other reviews and it seems there may be a lack of consistency in service but ours was great. The atmosphere was pretty relaxed with lots of TV's, darts, pool table, and Golden Tee. On site touch tune that you can actually hear. The food was awesome. Big Pig Sports Page Original was awesome. Very unique kind of BBQ sandwich, deep fried sour dough bread, cheese. The pulled pork was very good and is smoked on site, and the sauce was spicy but sweet, we enjoyed it! Also had the Burgoo with the corn fritters. The Burgoo was very hearty and tasted really good. Also, this is a sports bar with bar food and good BBQ, so I would stick with their specialties and stay away from the steaks and pizza. I haven't tried the steak or pizza because I don't order steaks or pizza in a bar, I go to a steakhouse or pizza place because that's what they specialize in. Other Yelpers criticized the steak and Pizza so I will just assume they are right and stay away recommend staying away from them- this is a bar with fresh BBQ so stay in that area. Did not try the slaw as I was still worried but if someone else has and can report an update I may try it again. Overall, great experience and close to home so we will be back! I am rating a four reference this trip only but will add reviews when we try again. Wanting to try the brisket, ribs, and chicken so will update accordingly!
Very good dinner. Fun to go to because Kentucky Derby was going on. Had a Kentucky Bourbon Beer which was very potent but good. Had a pulled pork sandwich and it was very good. My wife had the ribs which I tried and they were excellent. I really liked the sauce. Nice that it was right next to our hotel room as well.
